Some folks rely on those pesky groundhogs for predicting spring. We have nesting bald eagles in the area. The young ones gather near a local lake and migrate south before their elders. The nesting elders return earlier. Saw my first eagle in the sky on the return from our pellet run.
I'll have to hide the cats and wait for warmer temps ... their preferred food is fish.

One time a couple years ago while ice fishing, I had two flags pulled up a nice bass on the first flag. I had a couple eagles watching me from a tree in at shore so I put my ice scoop on top of the bass and went over to my other trap. Hadn't gone more than 20 feet and the eagle had swooped down for a fly by to take my fish. Instead of the fish though he took off with my ice scoop! Ended up dropping it about 50 yards away. Certainly won't forget that.
