Hampton, NH
This morning I went to Home and Hearth in Hampton Falls NH to grab some pellets. I knew something was up when I saw a line of cars a quarter mile long leading into the store's parking lot. I crept closer and had just made it into the parking lot when a Hampton Falls cop came along and told everyone who was on Rt 1 to leave. The business owners were not happy but there was nothing they could do. I then found out they had a five bag limit. They told me they sold 14 tons the day before in just a few hours. Wow.

Next think we'll be hearing about Pellet Riots

I've never seen anything like that. Tomorrow they are going to hire a cop for traffic duty but they haven't decided how to handle all the people. Maybe give everyone a number? I didn't see this coming but from what I've seen, everyone in the area is out of pellets and because of the prolonged cold weather, folks are running out. I've got 15 bags left. Last year at this time the stove was on part time duty :-)

Food riots,no that was russia.Wheelbarrow full of cash for a loaf of bread?,no,wimar republic.Pellet riots,NH? wow

Pellets direct in ma had pellets this week. They closed tomorrow as they sold out. Site says theh sold 11,000 bags. Thats 220 tons 10 trailers full. In like 2 days. Wow.

We have had a similar situation here in Bel Air at a local supplier. They have been getting in one truckload every few days and there has been at least 100 people in line for 5 bags each every time. It sells out in 20 minutes from what I was told.
Crazy!
I'll burn the dead dinosaurs before I subject myself to that nonsense

I'm almost there Weezer. I hope they come up with something like you pay for pellets and they give you a time to come pick them up, or something similar. If not, I'll be using the furnace. Last year I burned a ton and a half. This year I had two tons and ran out last week. My fault. Because I am now officially disabled, I just don't have the money I used to so I could stock up. I used to have three or four tons on hand all the time (sigh)

welcome to the wonderful world of the harsh winter. ive seen things like this before though not as widespread. hopefully someone will pop a cap in that damned fat rat in rhode island soon. we need spring to hit soon or its gonna get uglier

That's crazy I've sat in traffic there in the summer going north. But to see that there like that must have been a sight to see.

Yeah, and only sold to old time customers. I was denied a 2ton order since I wasn't on the cool kid list.

They told me the same thing. 1st in line are the buyers of their stoves. 2nd in line are people like me who buy their pellets there....everyone else (walk ins) is out of luck unless they have extra. When I first walked in there to buy a ton of pellets, they didn't give me a hard time. That was three years ago.

Makes one wonder if future pellet prices will now rise as heating oil did and make pellet burning not as attractive or a marginal alternative.

So every Home Depot, Lowes, Tractor Supply, and independant stove shop in the entire North East has received AT BEST 2 trucks a week lately and we're supposed to believe that one shop received 10 trucks in the middle of the biggest shortage in 5 years?

It is possible. Before the guy knew I was only a customer for a few months he told me the different brands that were coming in over a week period or so. Each one was like a truck or two and there were a few brands. Of course all info stopped when I was outted As a Short timer.

Remember everywhere doesn't have a shortage. I have 6 places within 15 miles from me I can get pellets at. Prices here haven't changed at all.

I believe him. Some dealers have more clout... As for the box stores...more then likely contract price(lower)....contract amount(already delivered) contract fulfilled (puts them low on the "totem pole" So I absolutely believe ...just saying
