Went for a Hike

Went for a hike this morning. Only game trails here. These pictures were taken from Vancouver Island, just east of Telegraph Cove.
First picture is the Coast Mountain Range in the distance. Second picture is Queen Charlotte strait in the background. Third is Johnstone Strait. The bay in the left of the fourth picture is Bauza Cove.

More pictures of the same area that I went hiking in the previous week.
Picture of the Alder trees . This would have been a point in a Sky Line Road where the logs being yarded from the Spar tree to the A-frame on the beach 1000 feet away, would have gouged out what looks to be a road bed.
Another picture looking out over Johnstone Strait.
The dogs investigating a bear Den. Last week they would not go near it.
My brother standing by a large cedar tree stump. The notches in the stump were for spring boards. The spring boards allowed the fallers to stand above the flare in the stump to fall the tree. The falling in this time period, the late 20's, was done with crosscut saw and axe .

This is a picture of the spar tree. It has been laying on the ground for about 80 years. The ends of the knots sticking out, once would have been cut off flush with the trunk by axe. When all the logs in the setting had been taken out, the loggers would just fall the Spar tree to get all the blocks and straps off and this tree would be left behind.
