[Hearth.com] What are the temps in your area? Not looking forward to this weather. Wish our hopper was bigger

Thing is its supposed to be below normal for almost 2 weeks. Got spoiled with December and watching ice houses turn into bobbers. Just checked local temp and wind, -11 and winds back up to over 25. Looks like schools being late trying to get the buses warm.

Was 52 degrees today! However it's going to be a high of 20 on Tuesday.

Was about 60 yesterday afternoon and hitting 18 tonight with Wed high of 10 and low of 0. No wind chill accounted for. Not crazy cold like some but more than enough cold for me. November was well below average here too and Dec. was great. Nice and warm for winter. Bio, you need to reverse those fans up there. We're good down here on the cold. Stocked up and need no more. Thanks!

Freezing rain and sleet here now too with snow by early Tues AM. Great! (with a large dose of sarcasm).

Sort of Chilly here tonight. Of course I've lived in Wi for a long time.
Tomorrow it will be cold enough the icicles will be shivering !!

Gonna get cold, but not that cold....saw some single digits in the upcoming weeks lows......

Got to about 50-52 today. It's 2306 hrs and it's down to 36 degrees with wind chills making it feel much colder. Going to be 20s and 10s this coming week.

Not as harsh as the Upper Midwest here in central Maine this midweek, but cold enough. -10 F temps in the morning on Wed and -30 F wind chill.
The pellet stove, the wood stove, and the oil burner will all be crankin' this week ! :ZZZ

We got lucky with this snow storm and didn't get the sleet and freezing rain that other parts of the state got - it was actually a pleasure to get some 'seat time' on the tractor and snow blow some champagne powder for a change ! The best accessory I've purchased for the tractor was a hard shell cab - being warm and dry certainly trumps being the abominable snowman !

A winter emergency kit for your vehicle is a must have in this kind of severe weather, where a breakdown could become a life threatening event - sleeping bag or wool blankets, small shovel, warm clothes, gloves and warm hat, energy food, water, headlamp or flashlight, tow strap, first aid kit, jumper cables, 12 volt cell phone charger cord, etc.

Here's a good checklist put out by Ready Wisconsin at WI.gov. (broken link removed to http://readywisconsin.wi.gov/winter/HowToMakeAKit.asp)

Stay warm and stay safe everybody.

Thanks for posting that - best list I've seen in awhile so forwarded it to myself.

Here is eastern PA we're warmer than many this week, but still getting plenty cold. Low of 7F forecast for Wed night. Balmy low 50s yesterday but foggy. The wind is howling out there today, and will be for next few days. Switched over to Hamers.

-19 this morning in Val-d'Or,-43 or so with wind chill

Pretty cold but the car started right up. No worries.

50 yesterday so both stoves are cleaned and ready for very cold this week.... Will be the first arctic air snap with two pellet stoves in the house...

Being further south than most on this forum, I don't have any brutal temps to report yet but, like most, I'm in the path of the cold air coming in later this week. 1st daytime highs below freezing, for a couple of days; I'l have to decide if instead of burning pellets only on weekends, I might have some mid-week fires.

We are being dumped on by a Pineapple Express, it's a river of atmospheric water that swoops up from the Pacific Ocean around Hawaii to the Pacific NW.
Warm rain and lots of it! Temperatures are in the fifties night and day

-40 here this morning

-40 ::F = -40 ::C for us non-Canadian's less familiar with temp conversion. When it's cold enough that the temp number in Celsius becomes equal to or less than the Fahrenheit conversion temp number...... that's cold brother !

I don't want to understand those C - F conversions. Especially at -40. I do not want to understand that temp nor do I want too feel it. 0* C = 32 F. That's all I need to know.

I will move farther south if need be. That way I can avoid the metric conversions and the need to become a COLD bi-lingual temperature dude. No interest in speaking teeth chatter.
