Like the title states, what do you consider to be a big split. My stove accepts 21" logs left to right and 16" front to back. I can usually stack (2) 5" splits on top of each other without hitting the burn tubes in my stove. On average I get 7 or 8 splits that range 4"-5" across. I get more complete burns loading E/W but slightly hotter burns N/S so I have been cutting most my wood 16" long by 5" across and loading N/S.
Is your preference to have more smaller splits or just cram a couple big logs in and you're good?
