What does the Home Depot Pleasant Hearth PH50CABPS and the Quadrafire Santa Fe have in common? ! ! !

I service a PH50CABPS the other day (broken link removed to http://www.ghpgroupinc.com/product-detail.aspx/cabinet-pellet-stove)
and a Quad Santa Fe insert. (broken link removed to http://www.quadrafire.com/Products/Santa-Fe-Pellet-Stove.aspx)

The customer had a new exhaust blower installed by a local Quad dealer and used the current quad parts.
The dealer only uses quad parts for servicing their stoves.

Guess what, yes the PH50CABPS also has the same Chinees exhaust blower motor straight from Huayl
(broken link removed to http://www.hktdc.com/manufacturers-suppliers/Ningbo-Huayi-Motor-Co-Ltd/en/1X00L7ZG/)

Specs show this motor has very low current draw and when I put a test cord on it when it is clean, it takes time to spin up to full speed!
0.48(0.6) Amps
2900 RPMs 115vac 60Hz

Any comments? ? ?

Is the low current an issue, because it is under performing? Or a selling point, because it saves energy??

Good question?

IMHO, It may save energy but it may not burn pellets completely on low heat settings, and may not last as long as one with a higher current capability

I have to wonder if "economy of construction" is a factor…weaker motor = less expensive to build.
