Low 30’s tonight just fired up the Vista for an evening load of ash, maple, oak and ugly scraps.

76 in here now!! Will reload before bed!

34 here on the cape this morning. Chili morning. Coldest of this season so far, here anyway.

No stove here, only a NG Fireplace insert. Throws pretty good heat though.

Around 29 this morning here. No overnight fire. 63-64 in the main rooms when I woke up so in went a pretty full load of ash. They are large awkward splits so got creative with starting the fire. 675-700 STT and had to slow it down early to keep it there

Spruce last night around 730, had enough wood left to get more spruce going this morning. It’s still got a couple hours of time left in the active zone and lows will be in the 50s tonight so no overnight load. Supposed to get chilly round here next week, will have to reload the spruce tote.

Wife was cold (71 inside) so she says, around 5-530 and asked what was up with the “fire”. Stove was around 200 degrees STT and had some coals in it from this morning. So, loaded up the stove and warmed it up even more LOL. Hit about 700 degrees STT. 77 in the living before bed and stove was still just under 500 degrees. 😬. Might not need a fire until tomorrow night! Or in this case, Sunday morning when I get home from work

We've been burning the same since my last post, shoulder season wood (pine). The temps in the house up here have been 67 or 68 most of the time in the morning, that's with no overnight fire. Today we put in the last of the pine we'll burn this fall just under 4 face cord once it's gone with another 2 waiting for spring.

After tomorrow we have snow, sleet, rain and freezing rain coming in, it's starting early. Hopefully we don't get any Lake Effect snow this early.

No fire yesterday or today weather warmed way up into the 50s in the morning and 60s during the day. Maybe get another fire tomorrow night when the temps start to drop off again.

High of 33 today. Good coals left from last night's cherry and inside temp is still 69; so first load is one each elm, black ash and pine e/w on 2 small cherry round runners for a quick blast of heat and lasting coals.

On the plus side, I think I've finally gotten it figured out how to not smoke the crap out of the glass on the Stratford 2. Patience with charring, not my strong suit 😜.

Thank you! This is no longer "the cabin up north", it is home 😁. Sure is nice only having 1 property's bills and projects, although getting everything finished here is going to take a year or two (or three) yet...

Been mild here upper 50’s no burning. Mini splits when needed. Week of low 30’s upper 20’s coming so got the wood staged and ready to go. Local guy selling large bags of kiln dried lumber scraps for $6 bucks. Will compliment my sticks from my property on cold starts.
