When to replace Cat

Sorry if this was answered somewhere, I searched but could not find it. When should I replace my cat, seems I remember something about when it shows cracks or begins plugging but not sure. It looks clean and no cracks only been in use for four years however the stove is about 20 years old. FA288CCL Thanks

I tried the water part. It didn't seem to work...

if it is clean and not obstructed and not cracked then burn it. If you can see it when burning and it is glowing, it is working: or if you have a probe thermometer and it has a temp above 800 it is working. Even if it has a crack or two: it may be fine. It should not look as if it is melted or have pieces missing, then replace it. It sounds like yours is fine...

temp stays around 1000 to 1200 so it must be working properly thanks for the info

There you go. Make sure to keep the fly ash cleaned from it. When some of the honeycomb gets plugged, it affects burn and the amount of work the remaining clean area has to deal with.
