This stove is old Like 1988. Rotary knobs control board. Do the newer electronic board replace the rotary knob board? As it is now there doesn't seem to be much flame control. Ether full blast (uses absurd amount of fuel) or flame just about goes out and then pellet finally drop and high flame for a while, then almost goes out? How do you older Whitfield owners deal with this?

It's old. Many older stoves had flames that would go up and down on the lower settings. But,the old Whits did have control board issues, and you may be able to upgrade it to the newer push button control panel. You will probably have to call a parts supplier with the serial number.
