Hello everyone,
New member that was directed over here by some friends on another forum. We moved into a new house to us back in September. The house has forced hot air system which is gas fired. We wanted some additional heat so we picked up a used Whitfield Profile 20 pellet stove. The stove seems to be in good working order and I completely cleaned it in preparation for installation.
Now what I would like to know is can I use my Metalbestos 6" Stainless Steel pipe that we had at the old house venting our old wood burning cook stove? Selkirk makes an adapter to interface the 3" pellet outlet to the 6" Metalbestos pipe and I am not sure if this will work i.e. exhausting the pellet smoke to the outside efficiently? I have been doing a lot of research on this but cannot find anything that says this is not a good idea. The stove has an exhaust fan so I would think that connecting it to the bigger pipe shouldn't be a problem?
I would love to be able to use the leftover Metalbestos pipe as it is very high quality and I have everything I need to vent this stove above the roof line. This will save us a ton of money not having to buy all new piping. Thank you for your help.
