I've been a busy wood hoarder these past couple months. Our cold winter forced me to use wood I had put up for next year so the hoarder instinct is strong right now
. But as fate would have it the majority of my scrounges have been near-punky pine and soaking wet oak.
I burn pine so no complaints, it is well on the way to being ready for shoulder season next fall. But I'm low on my hardwood and all this wet oak is driving me crazy. I'm scouring the roadsides and neighborhood yards looking for standing dead and can't find anything to give me my comfort zone surplus for next year.
I did get little fresh cherry and maple but did not get it css until February so put it in my 2015 stacks. I know that standing dead bone-dry oak or hickory is watching me drive by each day, wish it would wave to me! How about you - still working on that last good scrounge?
