Freezer is 75% full of veggies already.

Making cider Monday and will have to plug in the second one. Hoping for 30 gallons this year.

Just need to put up a hog and a couple deer and I'll be set.

Most of this wood is still there and will heat the house this winter and a good share of the following winter. It was split and stacked in April 2009.

This was split and stacked in March 2010. It should be enough to last through the winter of 2014-2015.

Then there is the wood I cut last winter which I still have not taken any pictures of. We should be okay.

I have 3 cord in the shed along with 1+ cord ready to go under deck, all of which is seasoned for more than enough time. Along with that I have what is pictured below.. just a tad under 16 cord (will be 16 + cord within a week or two). So I am set up through the 2015-2016 heating season.

I'm in good shape . 15 cords ,half of which is from '08 and 09 . The other half is mostly oak and is from ' 10 so it needs to wait a year or so . That ,and I've got two triaxle loads of oak poles coming soon . If nothing else, cutting splitting and stacking that should help keep Me and the Misses warm for a bit .

12 cord, good to go. still have to change 1 stove, replacing one orf the R-3's with a Englander 30. Thanks to the storming weather, I now have 37 acres of bush to work on cleaning up. We'll take her as she comes.

It's that time of year already?
Ok, about 5 1/3 cord in the shed that was in the field stacks since July-Aug, of '09, another 2 cord left from that batch still in the field, and another 5 cord that I finished this year, late spring, that'll be used next winter.
Also have almost 2 more cord of Spruce and White pine to be used during Spring/Fall (not dry yet) next year, or whenever. Need to finish the oak logs in the drive, which I'm guessing is about 3-4 more cord. That'll be part of '13-'14 wood. Don't think I'll make it to sis-in-laws place to cut this year unless work lets up.
I thought I was retired. Hmmm.
Yep, I'm ready.

I thought I was doing good with 10 cords, you guys put me to shame. I think Im going to buy 4 more cords $135 c/s/d. Some guy is working on the tormado cleanup in town and is selling cords for $135. I think Ill take advantage of the sale and save my back.

It would be great if we have a nice long fall and I don't start burning until November. I won't hold my breathe, though. Average highs for the last week of October are soppose to be 64-62°. Never seems to work that way.

I hate absolutely all of you with the land for those kinds of stacks! I only have .3 of an acre to live on! Not counting the driveway and the shed and the house! =P

I can put 4.5 cords in my woodshed, and stack about 8 cords worth on my fenceline in the backyard, but I think that's about as much as my neighbors will tolerate. I figure I'll use about 4 cord a winter (that little Englander can BURN!) so that'll get me one year's winter in the shed and then two more on the fence.

Ready... hmmm.

The wood supply for this year is ready... its about half Oak and crabapple from 09 (checks at 15% ) and a mix of oak/maple/ash from Aug-10 (checks at 20-22%).

Wood supply for next year could be better. I should have some of that 2010 wood left but would like to get at least one more cord stacked and drying. Still working on getting a piece of some irene downed trees in the neighborhood.

Stove is not yet ready, I still have to clean it and brush out all 4 chimneys. Probably get around to that in October.

House is not quite ready either. I am having a lot of insulation and air sealing work done sometime Sep/Oct (thank you nstar).



Having said all that, between having the best wood for a season so far and the insulation improvements Im looking forward to a great season. Cant wait for November!

Greenhouses are almost stacked full with dry wood ready for moving inside, garage has about a cord inside, and about 2 cords stacked outside and still collecting (over 2 years ahead now).

As for food production.......our apple trees are looking good too.......... ;-)

Stove: All ready to go . . . just add wood.

House: Got a few projects to wrap up in the Fall . . . nothing too pressing though.

I have two years of three year seasoned stuff in the shed. But wouldn't mind it a bit if I didn't have to light a fire until, oh I don't know, 2014. I was gonna hang up my wood cutting spurs last year but a couple of oaks bit the big one in thunder storms so I saddled up one more time. Half of the third years is now top covered and resting.

Some of us just don't age as gracefully as Backwoods Savage. :red:

Almost 2 years ahead.This winter will be 2 year seasoned beech,1 year seasoned silver maple and box elder.This is the time of year I like to cut until the snow gets too deep.Large beech snapped in half at my parents woodlot,found a couple standing dead black birch and a box elder my dad wants removed.Also a friend is removing a couple silver maples from a rental so I will be busy this fall.

Wood: I have my 4 cords stacked next to the driveway for this winter - I have a variety buffet again this year, about 1.25 cords of good oak, a cord of poplar, 1/2 cord of mixed softwoods and the rest is ash. Some of that "mixed softwoods" is a bit punky, but it will burn. I have yet to burn more than 3 1/2 cords in a winter so I should be all set for the year.
In addition, I now have about 7 cords stacked and perhaps another 1 - 1.5 in process (logs or rounds) to be worked yet so I figure I'm at least 2 years ahead stacked and working on year 3 at this point which is an awesome feeling.

Rest of my projects? ha! I need another summer, but they'll hold to next year I suppose.

Mentally? Whole family is eager for cooler weather, kids want snow and I wouldn't mind feeding the stove about now.

For this year I have 3 1/2 cord that should be ready: Elm, Mulberry, Oak and a bit of Silver Maple all stacked minimum 16 months com October. About 2/3rds of that are in a Holz Hausen so we'll just have to wait & see how dry the center of that is.
About the same on the menu for next season and maybe 1/3rd of the 13/14 wood is stacked with most the rest still in rounds. Plenty of wood around here these days, but with what I have on hand, it's well down on the to-do list...

I won't say I'm ready for winter though, still need some more paddling time on the Lake.

We have about 12 cords of wood c/s/s and burned just over 4 last year, so we're nicely ahead. 6 of those cords have been seasoning since June 2010 and will be ready to keep us toasty through a Northern winter.

On the hardware side, the chainsaw is sharp, tuned up, and ready to go to work on the remainder of 2013-14 and the start of 2014-15 wood late this fall. And the indoor wood furnace and chimney are cleaned, prepped and ready to roll.

We also have a number of new windows, including new, large picture windows in my office. Not only is the view amazing, but I won't suffer through another drafty, miserable winter when I'm working from my home office!

The only thing left is to figure out what's wrong with the carb on our snowblower.

So, winter, bring it on!

about 7 cords seasoned....white oak, locust sugar maple and cherry. should burn between 4 and 5 of those.
not much for 12-13 so i need to get on that. busted a toe and with all the rain i've been unable to get out and start dragging some logs in. i also like to wait till after hunting season to start scouring around for standing dead trees.

i've never done this but i'm thinking of cutting up and splitting a bunch of pine to use for early and late seasons. (12-13) i'm adamant about not burning any seasoned hardwood before first frost. i try to burn limbs, deadfall and debris up until thanksgiving and then start on the good hardwood. i've got tons of pine on property that were dropped a couple years ago cuz they wuz widowmakers. if they had been looming over the house during irene i woulda got my family outta there. might as well burn 'em.

Got 6 cords of maple, 3 cords hornbeam and 1 mixed yellow/white birch with a little ash. That's more than we typically use, but you never know. Got it all bucked and about half split.

How did you get three cord of Hornbeam...don't they only grow about ten feet tall?

Hop Hornbeam....they get much bigger and my woodlot is loaded with it.
