Who's work is this.....................

Hey folks- was splitting some wood earlier and this is what I found. Looks like a perfect 1/4" hole for entry then a close resemblence of a 'Z' down thru the trunk. What kind of an insect did this? The much hated Bark Beetle? Seems like a good deal of saw dust in there too.........

Bumble bees do that around here.

Looks like a carpenter bee.

Could be carpenter ant too.

Thanks Joe. Yeah- there's carpenter ants all over around here, that's them. Once in a great while we'll see a Bumble bee buzzing around.....................
