Why is the DuraFlex warranty only 10 years when most say lifetime? I understand the lifetime sellers have big requirements to qualify but I just want to reline my chimney with a good quality product. Is the DuraFlex good to go or should I try another vendors product? I was leanig towards Rock-Flex liner from Rockford too.

The Duraflex aluminum liners are warranted for ten years. Every Duraflex stainless steel liner I have ever seen is limited lifetime. Including the two in my chimneys. Not that I believe for a second any liner vendor will stand behind it.

I'll admit my reading comprehension isn't always the best so I went back to read the istallation instructions and found this:

"cap after cleaning liner.
WARRANTY
Simpson Dura-Vent warrants DuraFlex SS for a period of 10 years from date of
installation. The warranty includes all components and fittings except caps. Caps
carry a five-year warranty. All warranties, whether expressed or implied, shall be
limited to replacement (exclusive of installation costs) of the product found to be
defective under this warranty and shall be conditional upon compliance with all
recommended installation and maintenance procedures and intended use of the
product. All products must be maintained by periodic inspection and cleaning as
needed, including vent exposed to weather containing corrosive elements."

Am I missing something? With most everyone else saying lifetime this is what caught my eye. I don't think many of them would stand behind the warranty and get out of it any way they could but only 10 years? That seems short and I jsut wanted to make sure it was a good product.

Well, it appears you're correct.

I personally prefer not to use the cheapy Dura Flex. I use a bit of their more expensive stuff, but shy away from the cheap flex. You get what you pay for IMO.

I definatly don't want to use the cheapy stuff. I have been reading everything I could find for about 6 weeks now. Please, make a suggestion for me. I would prefer to use the best as I intend to live here for the rest of my life. I only want to do this once. I have used Simpson building products before and they are a well respected company in that respect. I am new to chimney liners though. Who would you recommend?

I like and use a lot of Simpson stuff and they're a great company, but the one time I have used the cheap Dura Flex it dented pretty easily. But, other folks here have had used it and probably have differing opinions.

If you're going to install the liner yourself look at Flex King. Their warranty is very friendly to DIY folks and it's decent stuff from what I hear.

Northline needs to update their stuff.

But like most everybody else the fine print voids the warranty if it isn't installed by a "professional".
