Winter is coming

My raspberries were done on 07-31-2019 and my fireweed was topped out same day. Looking for first (hard) frost on 08-13-19.

FWIW EPA foolishly came up here during forest fire season to talk about winter air quality while we had 400+ whatevers of PM 2.5. Apparently wood smoke is only dangerous to human health if it first passes through a chimney attached to a wood stove.

Man it was almost 90 and muggy as hell here. I dont think we will see a hard frost for at least 2.5 more months.

Edit: Probably closer to 3.5 months.

Wow, that's a quick turn around! Summer didn't really get here until July. The lobster, crops, and all manner of things that rely on warm summers came late this year.

Solid summer in the mid-Atlantic since beginning of July. Maybe it will end in September as abruptly as it started. The long range for 19/20 winter seasons are starting to come out and it looks on the cooler side of average for these parts. Will see.

I still love the beauty of New England, but heavy humidity, bugs and road salt are all things I don't miss since moving west.
