Have any of you found a wireless room temp sensor with a low temperature alarm?

I want to set up an alarm that wakes me up if my stove room dips below a set temperature so that I can get up and reload the stove if necessary.

I'm having trouble finding such an item.

Very interesting!

I wonder how well one of those would work with an electric oil filled radiator heater to give more accurate temp control than the built in dial.

Thanks!

I have one from acu link that broadcasts over wifi, so I get text messages or emails when my room hits temp or humidity setpoints. I can also check the house temp anywhere my phone has a connection, and it shows graphs so I can see how my loading impacts the house temp. It's been a nice little add on this year.

That is what I use them for. One in each room of the house with a oil filled radiator for backup if I go into town someday and don't come back.

Much better than the things directly on the heaters. Only problem arises if it is plugged into an outlet on an outside wall. Wall gets cold and heater runs forever. I have them on interior wall outlets. Since outlets are at floor level you have to play a little figuring the offset at midpoint from the floor to the ceiling but it ain't no thang.

What about an oil filled unit with the digital thermostats / controls built in? Would the plug-ins still give you better accuracy / reliability? I dunno if those fancier built in thermostats can even go as low as a no-freeze setting (I just have the plain old dial controls) - these plug in things could solve that problem. Good tip about the outside wall outlets too... thanks....

The plug in ones are best because they are measuring room temp. Not attached to the hot heater. And they are programmable for daily and weekend time of day operation with different temps available by time of day. Works on air conditioners also.

I use an Electric Imp set up as a digital thermometer.
It records and graphs the temperature and using IFTTT it will send an alert to my phone if the temperature by the stove exceeds whatever temp I tell it.

I have a wireless temp alarm. She kicks me in the shin if it gets to cold, and I get up and check the stove.

That and the fact that I wake up most mornings between 3-4am anyway, so while I am up, I step down stairs and see what the stove is doing, react as needed. When it's in single digits, as it has been a whole lot of nights this year, I just go down there planning to reload, thus avoiding the wireless alarm later.

And honestly, we have a weather station thing that I am pretty sure has a high/low alarm capability, but the above method works fine for us.

That Electric Imp sure looks interesting.

As I noted previously somewhere, my ecobee smartsi thermostat can be programmed to send an email at any temp. Not exactly an alarm though, unless you're checking some mobile device's incoming email.

Where did you buy it and how much did it cost? Thanks

FWIW I am going to be test driving the LaCrosse remote temp / humidity / water leak sensors. Mixed reviews but price was right. I want to get an email or text alert anywhere on my phone if the sump or furnace or crawlspace dehumidifier craps out. We'll see how it goes....
