Wood ID please? In North Carolina

Bark doesn't look like sweet gum to me. But I'm not sweet gum connoisseur

On the other hand, it seems good quality, so if you're not space challenged, just get it if it's free.... Good to have some variety in wood.

If it’s free and you need wood it doesn’t matter what species it is! Each pound has the same btu as oak!
 
When i zoom in on it ... to me it kinda looks a version of red oak or wild black cherry the latter being based off coloring of wood id say theres prolly a descent chance of it bein either or of the 2
