Walnut is my vote too - I use a piece to split on

That's what I thought also. It was part of the load that was dropped here last year.....still splitting this load. I take it it's a 3 year seasoning needed ( that's the stack I put it in). This load was all great firewood according to the tree service that dropped it off....all free !!

I wasn't here when it was dropped, the Wife was.....she said a log on top came shooting out while he was dumping, and almost speared my Pop Up:eek:....scared both her, and the driver.

Holy crap !!!!....the tree service that dropped that load, just stopped in front of my house looking at trees that need to be cut (storm damaged)....he remembers the load, and asked if I want more.....I told him not yet, but if he's cutting local, I'll come pick up a truck load with my Silverado....he sez he thinks he'll be right down the street...WOOO HOOOO !!!!!!!!!!.....Wife is pissed

Old church smell. It's walnut. I like burning it for the aroma.

Wow, you must have put extra in the collection plate to be so darn blessed! LOL.

But it won't need 3 years to be ready to burn.

In that first pic underneath the black walnut that bark looks like white oak.......

Black walnut is a great firewood. In my opinion it burns alot hotter then people think . I also think it should have a little higher BTU rating.;)

.....big disappointment.....he dropped one little branch....not worth the effort....but you can bet that being he remembered dropping that other load, and asked if I wanted more, I'll be making a call as soon as I straighten out the mess I have
