wood id please?

So I got this load of mostly locust, but some maple and cherry. The locust and cherry the tree company was correct about.

But is this maple? I do not remember maple having this brown pith?

Or is this ash?

Hard/Rock Maple? Nice wood if it is. That little wavy yet ordered pattern with pigments says to me hard maple - but I don't get much Maple so not 100% sure. Ya, usually it is a little whiter. Someone said it was denser than White Oak - but I don't think so. But if it is up there near white oak it is a very good firewood.

Looks like Norway maple to me.

it's not heavier than white oak, and I think it contains less water than white oak (when both green). So I doubt it'll be neaer white oak.
I read elsewhere it dries fast, which is nice. It'll be good to have some fast lighting stuff in a year with a lot (majority) of black locust.

I’m no maple expert but it does look like many of the maples around here, norway, etc.

Hard to be 100% from photos, but I’d lean ash over maple here. Especially if it’s lighter than white oak and seems to be drying quicker. Maple usually feels a bit heavier for its size and is not that quick-drying.

Norway maple. I’ve burned a lot of it. Burns nicely.

If you look quickly the bark, it is similar to ash, but doesn’t have that “diamond “ pattern

Going with maple of some variety. Bark kinda looks like red maple, but the split seems too white. Not ash.
