Had this dropped off with a load of ash/red oak and black walnut. Not sure if this is a soft maple or hard maple, or oak... or something else. It splits on the hard side but the grain is somewhat twisted. A fresh saw cut turns grey fast, and the sapwood has a bright white appearance. It smells kind of "fishy" almost.
It is NOT box elder, red oak, or white ash.
