Hey guys,

Still very new to this. So far I have been able to pick up mostly white oak, but I got a few rounds of this one. My buddy wasn't sure, said he thought it might be maple. No leaves around. Its lighter then the oak, and splits really easy. Most of it was white with a yellow center, but some of it looks like this, with a purple-black streak.

Any clue?

tulip poplar. light, dries quick, easy to split, burns fast and hot.

I'd second that. I picked up about 1/3 cord of [cottonwood] poplar last year. Quite a bit of green tint on the heartwood. Have a couple splits that have the exact same green/purple coloring.
