Wood Insert for Heatilator Fireplace Help Needed

Hi everyone. First post, longtime reader.

I have a Heatilator EC36I fireplace, it's pretty small, and I am wondering if anyone would know what inserts I could fit in it, if any. Unfortunately it's connected to a 8" chimney, so most likely I need to line the chimney to 6" if I understand how all of this works correctly. I like the looks of the Jotul C350 Winterport insert and am wondering if it would fit, or what others would fit as well. Any opinions would be great.

If your FP is a prefab, most units simply won't fit. despite what the brochures say trying to install into a prefab is just not worth the grief. Your best best is to totally pull the unit and replace it with a heating unit

Measurements, photos, house layout, you expected needs from the insert, location , etc. etc. etc.
If you supply some info, you'll get more responses.

Ok, this is my secondary heat source to my Wood Furnace. The fireplace is on the main level, with a high ceiling, fans help pull the heat back down. The fireplace was in place when the house was purchased. I just want to make it more efficient for those days/weeks/months when the wood furnace is too much and bakes us out of the house. I hate putting so much wood in the fireplace and having the heat go right up the chimney and not getting much for heat out of it.

I believe the "E" boxes are not certified to have wood inserts put in them. The bottom wont support the weight because they are made with such thin steel. Sorry but you have a low cost builder box fireplace.

The E series box is not designed to have an insert placed into it. I would recommend a hearth heater. H2100 made by regency.

Don't give up that easy, you can also tear the thing out and replace it with a built in EPA unit. If you are near Madison, WI we could help you out, let me know.
