wood stove in a new construction home???

On another (unrelated) forum, A guy is claiming that

wood stoves are banned from new buildings you can only have wood fireplace inserts.I am not sure as far as insurance goes but new home buildings codes state you can't install them in most states.

is there any truth to it?
 
Not true in WA state. What state (of mind) was this poster in?
 
I don't think this is true - in any states. It is true in certain "air management districts", such as perhaps the Bay area, etc.

Some of these areas have no firewood anyway, and bad air inversions, so stoves are not a good idea there anyway. They generally go with gas.
