Well last night i did something I would guess most people will never do. I burned 100+ year old splits. It burned just fine.

My house is an old log house that was added onto.. We cut an opening in it a while back. Last night i decided i wasnt going to use the wood for any projects so i cut up and split it. About 12 logs 8-14 inches. So much for the theory wood can be to old.

Tested one it was 16... Its been sitting outside and was under my porch when i got sidding put on and they tossed it in the yard while they were working and had some rain and it was on the ground. Assuming it sucked up moisture. I should have Kept it inside or at least got it off the ground faster when i got siding. But none the less 16% isnt bad.

A while back somebody on here had discovered some 100 year old oak in an old barn. It burned great.

Nice story!

Yeah, the 1915s are just coming into maturation. Tannins should be well developed and nice bouquet with a touch of pleasant mustiness. That was a good year for trees.
