The distance from the side of my fireplace opening to the wood trim on the right is 11" - closer than most wood stove installations are going to allow. Can installing a heat shield to protect the trim be as a simple as an L shaped piece of metal installed into the brick and extending out 2-3" from the floor up several feet?
Most examples I have seen online are for protecting the bottom of a wood mantle - not trim to the side. Thanks!
