Burning Hunk

I found this stuff stacked at a local park and have been eyeing it everyday for 6 months and finally decided to go check it our. It actually doesn't seem to be too bad I thought it looked junkyard from a distance but I'd what species it is if it's worth picking up? I know there is a little rot on the one piece but the rest seems solid.

No I'm 99%sure it's not ash.

With the discoloration its very hard to tell. Cut into one and split one then send us a pic.

OK so maybe its basswood? If its basswood willow or poplar is it worth burning? Meaning has anyone had any experiences with these types?

This

But goin off the bark, the deep furrows seem like poplar maybe

My first inclination was poplar too, but it was just an off the cuff opinion.

If its easy to get, anything is worth burning. Ive not had any basswood, but poplar isnt bad at all. Ive heard on here that willow is about as bad as it gets- smelly, hard to split, burns like paper etc.

Go haul it home and put some split pics u and we can help you out more
