YouTube Wood Cutters?

I find myself with long periods at work that have to be filled with some sort of entertainment. Having multiple 4K screens around me I usually will default to some sort of research pertaining to wood heat, i.e. this forum, or some sort of home renovation reading. Most of the time this will satisfy the amount of time that I have available. Now on the other hand when we get slow I can only read so much and love watching videos on YouTube. I have been watching Life in Farmland, Outdoors with the Morgans, and of course Wranglerstar. Just checking to see who your favorite wood cutting YouTuber is?

I like Life in Farmland and Outdoors/Morgans as well but I'm not a fan of Wranglerstar.

I like those videos of the small guy in Alaska that does everything the old fashioned way, by hand. Forget his name but have them on my desktop. It was back in the 60s-70s.

Alone in the Wilderness, Dick Proenneke. It's pretty crazy to think of the weight of the video equipment that he had to take with him while he was out there.

Alone in the Wilderness, Dick Proenneke. It's pretty crazy to think of the weight of the video equipment that he had to take with him while he was out there.

I don't get the Morgans - If I was in his situation I could think of a much more efficient way of processing wood. Especially with having a grapple....... makes good tv i guess

It's a turbine, my friends dad has it. He also has a ford V-8, chrysler V-8, chevy V-8, Valkyrie V-6, in ones as well. It was the only picture that I could grab on my work computer to put on here, the wife got tired of me looking at the forum while I was at home and has put an end to my fun. Good thing she doesn't work with me lol

Buckin’ Billy Ray Smith

Bunkin over all the others by far. Good tunes. Great axe restoration and saw tips and plenty of wood cutting and splitting. It’s a refreshing YouTube channel.

Yea, Buckin' Billy Ray is very entertaining to watch, but he does some things that I do not think are good role models for cutters, beginners especially. First of all, I think he works way too fast, and that can lead to mistakes. Slow and steady is what I would recommend.

Then there is the matter of his personal protection equipment. I don’t always wear all of mine, but I do always wear gloves and eye protection. Finally, if I am cutting firewood, I leave the tree whole, instead of randomly cutting it into various lengths like he does. That way I get less odd lengths, and I can cut more sections of the tree that are free of the ground.

He is kind of fun to watch, and I do like his approach to sharpening.

Have you checked out Bus Huxley? He's got a really cool series on building a house from pine trees on his property in Maine. He heats with wood so he's got a few firewood processing/scrounging vids as well. Seems like he's always up to something interesting (rebuilding a tractor, using a chainsaw to propel his sled across a frozen lake, etc.).

I watched him from the beginning of his channel, and he proclaimed how he would never sell out and be a shill selling junk, and a year or so later he is selling junk, and being a shill for whoever would send him stuff. He is also very rude in his comments.

I will agree that Wranglerstar was way better earlier on. I know I wish I had the firewood processor he’s got.
