Probably just which stove (in line) it was and also the place of manufacturer. There were at least two places (MD and NH) that made the stoves - maybe more. I remember visiting the MD factory and having my orders written down in a PAPER log book.....like I was going to get my stoves in 8 weeks, etc.....

Thanks. I think that the numbers and letters are a code to maker, month, year, number made, like the 85th stove made that month.
