What do the letters and numbers in serial number mean?

Probably just which stove (in line) it was and also the place of manufacturer. There were at least two places (MD and NH) that made the stoves - maybe more. I remember visiting the MD factory and having my orders written down in a PAPER log book.....like I was going to get my stoves in 8 weeks, etc.....

Thanks. I think that the numbers and letters are a code to maker, month, year, number made, like the 85th stove made that month.
