Found this guy when I went out to do some stacking this weekend. A pretty good size specimen for New Hampshire as far as I can tell. Harmless though, unless you are a toad who likes to hang out in wood piles.

(S)he's a beauty. I have a rabbit who's made home under my wood piles. Somehow it figured out a month ahead of time that the one it was living under was going to get cut and split, and moved to one that wasn't. Made me smile...

I had a monster spider on my wood pile the other night. I accidentally had him in my hand a few weeks ago when I was splitting wood at night. I nearly had a heart attack. He's probably like 2 1/2 inches in diameter. I live on long island. We don't see a lot of spiders like this. My tenant snapped a pic of him. I'll post it.

I have a couple of those in my wood pile. Latest visitor was a skunk sorry no pictures. I was to busy yelling at "Fred the Dog" (my dog) to "come" , "leave it!" , %^&* IT Fred COME!. ^*&*(%%%((% FRED LEAVE IT! . NO FRED! FRED! FRED FRED FRED , NO<NO <NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!! OH CRAP FRED YOU %(%&^*(&^##$@%$#$&* IDIOT. $%#%$@%.
1 quart 3 % PEROXIDE
1/4 Cup baking soda
1 tsp dish washing soap
lather rinse repeat and repeat and repeat and repeat some more. Ughhhhhhhh
#$%#&% FRED
The Skunk sauntered off unscathed. I sure hope Fred learned something this time.
