That is an unusual part to replace. I think it is held underneath by 3 or 4 philips head screws. What is the problem with the current one?

I haven’t taken it apart yet but it appears to have come disconnected. When I move it, it doesn’t appear to be connected to anything. I also don’t notice any difference in burning when I pull or push the lever.
 
Does the fire seem to be burning too low, or high? How long have you had the stove?

It was here when we purchased the house 2 years ago. We used the fireplace very rare until this winter. It seems to burn too high, but I’m still learning this whole fireplace thing. This is the first winter we are heating the upstairs of our house with it. This house has 3 heating sources so it’s a little hard to wrap my head around all of them at the same time.
