An old Englanger for $500...could almost buy a new one with the big box-store hardware stores selling new NC-30's for $650

EDIT: I found an old listing from the same guy asking $1,000 for it... I guess he realized that it might be kinda hard to sell an old used one for almost 2x what brand new ones are selling for..
 
It's worth what someone is willing to pay..you never know.
 
Some people really are saying "This is for sale, but I really don't care whether I sell it" when they price their items. If someone is stupid enough to pay that price he'll be smart enough to sell it to them...........................
 
My wife keeps stuff on CL all the time. She'll sell her stuff for the same price or more than what she paid for it. It stays on there for a while but like you say, she doesnt really need to sell it. If someone is gonna pay her asking price, she's glad to take the money.
