this summer i baught an empyre pro series 200. yes, an outdoor gasser!! this past sunday i fired it up for the first time. went well except for 1 small problem. had to adjust the smoke bypass door. it was leaving about a 3/8" gap when the loading door was closed, which would not allow the gassification process to occur. once this was corrected the gasification process occurred and we were off and running. had a little bit of smoke for about a minute until the gasser kicke din then a very clean stack.
since this is my first experience with any gasser there was a small learning curve. i had let the water temp at the factory setting of 180. this was too hot for the outside temp. it reached 180 very quickly. it was about 60 deg outside, so there wa snot much of a heat demand. it stayed in the 180 range all day without firing. i dropped the water temp to 150 monday morning, which made a big difference, allowing the stove to cycle more often and not letting the fire to die out. since lowering the water temp it has been doing very well. last night we had our first frost, stove worked even better with the cold temp and more of a demand for heat from the house.
since sunday i have used the equivalent amount of wood in 3 days that i would have used in 1 evening in my old indoor traditional wood furnace. a major bonus. that along with the unlimited domestic hot water, it has been a pleasant experience so far.
will keep posting with updates..... any questions on the empyre pro series PM me.
