Ash pan - seems like a big fire for the first time around, what's the floor covering that's clearly not 18" from the front?
 
I wouldn't be surprised if the floor was stained cement. No break in fire; no using the door for start air, ashpan instead; no smoke free reload, but perhaps it was a warm day.
 
I'll bet the home owner was really satisfied with all that smoke coming into the room when he opened the door. I also like that single log burning at the end; log too long for stove. Well, you maybe can't get it all right the first time..... I'd have been ashamed to post that on the Internet.
