Yes I just meant to remove the pass through thimble only. Which would only be needed if it was in the way of the simpson wall pass-through, otherwise if it fits inside / over it that would be fine also. But you would still need to cut all the wood back, the simpson pass-through must go all the way in against the masonry structure.

Curious how close that thimble is to the ceiling also, looks like it might be pretty close. That could be an issue also depending on the stove or pipe used.
