Sometimes my pellet stove quits feeding pellets. When I took the back off of the stove I noticed that the clear hose was off. I cannot find out any information on what this hose is for. Could the hose being off have been my problem and if not what is the hose for

Probably a vacuum line. Please tell us who manufactured & what model stove you have, so we can help.

Make sure end of hose is not split, if it is cut off bad section and reattach to vacuum switch or side
Of stove. Go to Google image and search on "st croix stove vacuum hose." You will see a couple images of hose routing between vacuum switch and body of stove on a prescott is similar to Afton bay.

A lot of older St Croixs had a pos and neg nipple on vac switch. Attach yours to the neg side, have troubleshot that problem a couple of times. Happy to find its an easy one.....
