Any hotel recommendations close by? Should we get a block?

There is a super airport virtually within walking distance...no kidding!

But BB will have to call up T. Boone and see if he can borrow the G-4

What? I can't use the plane?

There are lots of hotels in that area. I've stayed at the Hampton INN in White River Jct.
There is a newer Holiday Inn Express, etc....all close by. White River Jct, VT is just a few miles.
Hanover (Dartmouth College) is about 10 miles north - nice town for eats, and walking, etc.

Lots of people stay at B and B's up that way if that is your thing........We did that a lot when skiing, but when I travel for short events and biz I like those clean and new brand names!

I've stayed at the Comfort INN White River Jct, also....

Big bucks? Try the Woodstock Inn and Resort....lots of other VT stuff like that.

Anyone who is gonna need a room should book a decent amount ahead of time because that is the start of leaf peeping season and they can get booked. Most placed let you cancel anyway if your plans change.

I plan on going also. I live right at the MA/NH border by Route 495 and not far from 93. If anyone in the area wants to take a ride up with me, let me know. The family will probably be staying home. It is a two hour drive one way. I plan on spending at least a few hours up there and will head back the same day. Sorry, no room in the truck for a stove that size...

The Baymont Inn is nice and only about 3/4 mile to the Woodstock factory but I just checked online and their rates have skyrocketed.

The Baymont Inn will supposedly give you a discount if you mention that you're coming to visit us. Can't personally vouch for it's veracity though.

They did last year Ron and I hope they do it again. Thanks for posting that.

Hey all. I just spoke with the Baymont Inn and they have set aside a block of 10 rooms at a special rate of $119.99. Just mention Woodstock Open House. Still a bit higher from last year but it is right by the factory and I think Dennis can tell you it's a decent place. Hope this helps. There is also a bunch of regular chain hotels in White River Junction, VT. Just over the river.....and through the woods. Ok, enough of that. Those places may give you some good rates but we don't have anything set up with them. Looking forward to seeing you all again! Mike.

Thanks Mike. Check your email too.

If anyone prefers camping our back yard is open that weekend. We're a little over an hour south of Lebanon.

That sounds enticing and like loads of fun! I need to get my truck rear axle resealed before I even consider it unless I tent it.. I bet we'd have loads of laughs and good stories!

Absolutely! Anytime I attend some sort industry workshop I try to camp. I'm just way too cheap for my own good.

NH is cold after Labor Day.. forgot about that..

Ray, it wasn't cold there after Labor Day last year. Quite warm in fact. Maybe just an odd year. But this year being later I expect it to be a bit chilly, at least early morning and evening.

I was referring to the night temps and sleeping/freezing in a tent.. I went camping in Ossipee NH on labor day weekend years ago and the night temps were in the 30's... Brrrr went to bed at 7pm to stay warm lol.. Luckily we had a pop up with heat!

Well Ray, bring your wife....or girlfriend.

I'd need to bring both to stay warm in those temps with no woodstove to keep me warm lol!!

We just booked at Baymont, but they didn't know anything about a block of rooms for Woodstock Soapstone. We paid $147 for king room.

Heard rumor of a block of rooms available at the Baymont for ~130 a night but the night shift knew nothing of it for Oct 8th and suggested I call during the 'day shift' from 9 till 3.

The fella I spoke to said there were still ~20 rooms available, 1/2 smoking / not.

Just passing along what I know.

I was there last month at the Baymont Inn I paid $80 for the night, I purchased a Fireview very nice people at woodstock, I'm sure I will have alot of questions about the stove, I hope Todd and Backwoods will help me out along with any one else who is willing to help. I will post some pics after i set it up, it was this forum that made me go with the Fireview, all the good reviews I heard from here, I had a VC Vigilant 1977 it was a great stove but not really efficiant hope I made the right choice with the Fireview, also can't go wrong with the 6 month return policy..

I am in the same heating zone as you and I have a Vigilant. I am very interested in hearing about how the Fireview compares to the Vigilant. Please come back and updates us later this winter. Also, I hope you have some good dry wood stacked already.

Congrats on your purchase.

Steve, your reservation is fixed. Just spoke with Baymont. April wasn't sure why the night shift didn't see it. She will speak with them but all is set now. The rates probably went up a bit probably because of peak foliage weekend. Mike.
