I was just trying to make a point that some parts are overly priced for what they are and replacements are and can be found elsewhere cheaper. Fans and auger motors at Grainger and Nebraska surplus.
Yep, Most of the Harman parts have the Grainger numbers right on them.I was just trying to make a point that some parts are overly priced for what they are and replacements are and can be found elsewhere cheaper. Fans and auger motors at Grainger and Nebraska surplus.
two different kinds of ignition systems. one passive, one forced. The passive one fails more often (AE)You Harman guys are impossible! I bet the M55 is a quieter stove than the 52i unless Harman has made some HUGE changes. Harmans are loud compared to the M55 or a Mt. Vernon (verified with an SPL meter). Harman claims the 52i is quieter than the OLD Accentra, not other brand stoves.
Ozymandias, I was stuck between the M55 and Mt Vernon and the cost of the igniter on the M55 tipped the scale for me. $235 vs $68 for the Quad. I'm not sure what a Harman igniter costs, but I would assume it is less than the M55. That is something to consider. The M55 makes a gurgling sound when it starts up as well which bothered me. That being said, I would probably still go for the Enviro over the Harman, but that's just me.
that was meWe had a member use a $10 petco aquarium pump for a replacement. Its just a simple air pump for crying out load.
I PhotoShopped a couple of rough overlays of each insert with my mantle. Feel free to share your opinion.
Harman has a much better thought out docking station if you plan on using an OAK. It automatically connects the OAK and exhaust when you roll the stove back and lock it. Enviro forgot about this and theirs only connects the exhaust. It's up to you to figure out how to connect the OAK which could be a major pain depending on access behind the stove after it is rolled back. Mine is easy since I can get to it from outside the house. I would be curious if you could tell which stove was quieter when they were running side by side? Don't know if Harman changed the location of their convection blower(s) but have read posts about what a pain it is to get to for cleaning since it is under the stove. As far as heating capability...the M55 will blow the Harman away when operating at high. But, most don't do this as pellet consumption is extreme. If Quad would put the Mt Vernon on rollers and do away with the auto dump burn pot, that would be something I would seriously look at. I wouldn't want to have to deal with SLIDING a 400lb stove out every time you need to do maintenance.

Hey, why weren'tt those pics downside up?
I took the advice of somebody on the forum and help my iphone upside down when taking the picture
Good point CleetussnowIf you want the square look for the suround, but like the enviro performance, jut get the hampton GCI 60. It is the same stove and has a squared suround. I got the gci because of the suround, and it was a few hundy cheaper as well.
I cant post a pic of mine for some reason....but it looks great with a similiar square mantle like you have.
Stove is a beast. Love it.
