Looks great - what do they estimate for cords? I'd like to walk up to a nice load of all straight logs to buck someday - but scrounging is still keeping me in plenty of wood, so might be a while yet. Good luck with the processing and congrats for being so far ahead - that will be some great wood when it makes it to the stove! Cheers!
It is usually about 8 cords per truck load. This one could be a bit more do to the size and how straight they are. Typically I get a bunch of different size logs averaging 15" - 20" in diameter. This load is just huge Oak Trunks. As for the bigger saw, I am a fan of the Stihl Farm Boss. I could do a lot of damage with 56.5 cc. It would put my Echo CS-370 36cc to shame.

Speaking from experience, an 029/290 Farm Boss would be woefully outclassed by a 40" log. I have an 029 that has kept me warm for almost 20 years, but I wouldn't recommend it for what you have there.

If you were to get a 18" bar for your 290 I'll send you a nearly new green chain for free. I have no need for it any longer. I ran a 18" bar on my 290 no problem but you could even go with a 20" imo Keeping them sharp makes the job go so much easier but you probably know that by now.
My Grandfathers saw. 75+ years ago, he walked out of the woods for the last time, sharpened it, and hung it in his garage. Now hanging in my kitchen...
