Was wondering if anyone on here has had any experience with the Fire Chief brand indoor wood furnace. Or is there another brand in the same price range ($2200) range that they would recommend over the fire chief.

Thanks in advance.

Never had one, but Fire Chief looks to be the same as the Shelter brand Menards sells. I checked 'em out when I was there a while back, look to be well built, but they are just old school smoke dragon design. Gonna be a creosote making machine with the lighter heat load that I would think you have in NC.
For that price range I'd look at the Drolet Tundra, they can be bought for $15-1600 on sale, modern clean burn design.

i bought the caddy for 2300 with blower had to do some serious deal hunting, then when least expected the deal came to me best stove for the money i think

FYI, the Caddy and the Tundra are made by the same Co, very similar units, same firebox design, just that Tundra is designed for price conscience, Caddy more HD...
That was a "smoking" deal NY! <> ;lol

yeah fair deal but the tundra has the exact fire box at a great price i just like the plenum and blower and build quality on the caddy, the plenum looks looks very professional and gives more airflow i was very close to a tundra

Thanks everyone for their replays.I have a meeting with a fire chief rep Saturday morning but I'm still undecided between fire chief and the Englander wood furnace. With the fire chief being about $1000 more. This will not be my primary heat I just wanted to supplement on extra cold nights to help keep heat pump.from working so hard.
Thanks again for all you thoughts and input.
