Hi guys,
So it was freezing during the weekend of January 6th, and as I stated in other posts my stove was not able to really heat up as it did last year. I thought it was the severe cold weather outside, and the fact that the house was under 45F for a whole month (thus literally all needed to be warmed up before it could stay a good temp). But now that the temp is not that low (42) and going up, the stove seems to be failing at keeping up with what it got me used to.

I am burning the Inferno Golds I got from Big Y (they ran out of them and not re-stocking anymore :( ) and other bags I got from Lowes (which some seem to have been perforated and humidity got to the pellets as some were all puffy). The pot seems to have a bulkload of crap on the bottom and getting higher, but the flame does look like is really burning. .not sure what is going on.

I'm going to buy some okies this week (if they are still available) and clean up the stove (to give the inferno another try) , but I think these pellets are not that good related heat.

Anybody has had better experience with the inferno?

Living in the same area as you, we got through the same recent cold snap just fine burning the inferno golds I purchased from big y last spring. I will say that we shut down and clean the burn pot once a day in our little ravelli Francesca. The buildup is moderate and falls right out without scraping. Sometimes I just swirl my finger around the pot to clear the holes. The heat output seems to be on par with the oakies we have. Almost sounds like all of yours had moisture. I was kind of bummed that big y doesn't seem to carry these anymore. I was hoping for a year end deal like last spring. Definitely try another brand quality pellet to see if that's your issue or if you have a stove problem. I know my Ravelli likes to be kept clean. Jim

Easy Blaze and Inferno Golds are def not the same pellet. I have both in my stash of pellets and when compared side by side they look different. Easy Blaze are produced in VA . I was told once that the Inferno Gold were made by Corinth.

Not sure if this "translates" into Inferno Gold being manufactured by the Easy Blaze creators, or just that Wood Fuel Developers would only leverage IFP marketing/logistics to distribute their products, but these pellets are definitely not the same.

I have never used easy blaze per say, but thought it would logically be the same pellet due to the business ties between the two entities and the fact that IFP doesn't appear to outright own a pellet manufacturer. I suppose they could use different raw material to produce the inferno pellets, but that doesn't make business sense. Actual factual information on the inferno pellet is pretty elusive, except for all the bad press when they were made in Rhode Island, pre IFP days. Anyway I still have some left to burn this season, and would buy them again if I could find them for the price Big y used to sell them.

The 2019 batch of EasyBlaze pellets are not as clean as the 2 prior years I burnt them. They now leave black ash cakes/clumps in my burn pot. Anybody else burning EasyBlaze this year?

Yep I am but I think they are better. Less dust and very little ash or clunkers. At least in my stove

I burned the Blaze for quite a few years.....
last years batch was a big change....... they used to be a blond yellowish color with a nice pleasant wood smell.
and the ash was fluffy light grey..
my only complaint was lot of fines in the bag....

so, when I got my tons delivered last season, there was an obvious change in the recipe..
no longer the yellow blond color.... the smell in the bags was not the same..
more like a chemical smell to me......
now the plus side was there appeared to be barely any fines in the bags.....
heat exspectations seemed to be the same.. does appear to be a coarser type ash than before but, barely have to scrape the burnpot as they don't seem to leave any hard carbon or speedbumps in the pot.....

I emailed EZBlaze last year to ask about what happened and why did they change the recipe...
I told them at 1st i though they mixed the EZB hardwood blend in with them as they we're obviously now a darker pellet and mentioned
that they did not have that sprucewood smell anymore....
I was told that they didn't change anything and blah blah blah etc......so no info to speak of..
[I only burned them for past 4 yrs so I think I could tell when the product changed...]
anyways,
I do like the heat they produce [very very hot] and do like that there are hardly any fines present...
the ash reminds me of how Hamers are now.. they changed also over the years and have a very coarse ash..
not the only great pellet brand that has changed over time......
I think they start to go cheap with product materials but resent that they think we won't notice..
btw:
if 1st time burning EZBlaze super premiums, you won't know they we're a different pellet year or so ago..
guess that's what they count on........
I will still buy them because they heat my old 1920's house great and a minimum of burpot scrapping involved.
