Loaded up my resolute and after about 2 hrs i checked it, using a infrared gun the top left was 660 degrees and a log had fallen against the glass and the glass read about 800. I opened the top and shuffled the wood aound but it was still close to 700 for a while. Is that too hot and what steps can i do to cool it down. Flue pipe (steel non insulated) going into my chimney was under 400. It eventually cooled down, but this is my first wood stove and it was an oh &$@! Moment

Sh!t happens. You did the right thing. It's actually a clear ceramic, not glass. Stove temp sounds about right.
