We put in a Stuv insert last year and had a fire just about every single day last winter. Sometimes a fire in the morning, and another after we got home from work.

Chimney cleaner came by today and said it doesn't need cleaning! Good news. I wasn't sure what to expect.

We don't have a lot of access to hard woods here in Colorado, but do have ash and maple fairly available. Of all the wood we burned, the breakdown was about:

1/4 pine (mostly to get the fire going, or on slightly warmer winter days)
1/4 ash
1/2 silver maple

So, hoping we have another year of clean burning heat!

Sounds good. Ash and maple are hardwoods. Pine is fine too as long as it is dry.
