Had a Harman dealer out to look at installing a pf100. I am concerned about the installation recommended by the hvac contractor he brought with him. I have a new 2 story colonial home with a 2 zone forced air oil furnace. He recommended installing the pf100 to only feed the lower floor zone and had the pf100 located in the middle of my basement rather than beside my oil furnace.

Questions:
How much space does the pf100 occupy when installed, not the physical furnace dimensions but the air return, etc. for a typical configuration, can it go in the corner?
Does anyone have experience dealing with multiple zones?
Do you use existing thermostats or install alternate thermostats?
Very little traffic about the Magnum 6500/7500, other manufacturer recommendations?

Just a wannabe looking for some help...

Thanks so much, KorasDad

Welcome to the forum. I don't have any experience with the PF100, but it sounds like a second opinion would be good. Does the dealer have other customers with installations similar to what he's proposing?

I would expect that you could use the same thermostats if you wanted, but you might need a relay to disable the oil furnace whenever the wood furnace is operating.

I think that there may be some complexity in connecting two furnaces into the same ductwork. The HVAC guy might be trying to minimize his pain.

Thank you for the feedback. I will probably look for a second opinion.

Does anyone have information on the Magnum 6500 or should I start another thread with a new header?

Thanks again, KorasDad
