2017 Mt Vernon E2

Hello,
I purchased a mt Vernon e2 Insert this last winter. It works wonderfully except on thing I cannot figure out that drives me nuts. When the stove is on and fire burning there sounds like too much air going through the fire pot or behind the ash tray. Sometimes more of a whistle or the the air behind the ash tray is making it resonate and have a tinny sound. It’s not overly obnoxious but I notice it every time is fire it up and my wife thinks I’m crazy. There is an air trim adjustment on it and I can’t find a good spot to keep it at. I have currently kept it at +3 for the last few weeks thinking that was ether best. Still sounds like too much air behind the ash tray or through the fire pit while burning. I am burning lignetics pellets and live in northern Montana near Canada. Does anyone have any ideas how to get rid of this sound?

Quadrafire can make a loud resonating sound when starting or fed too many pellets. I'm not up on the E2 stove, but does it have a feed gate adjustment that you can dial back a bit for initial feed and/or higher heat settings?

It has an air trim adjustment that is supposed to automatically adjust the air and feed ratio. So further to the right or clockwise the higher the flame height the manual says (0-+3). If you turn it counterclockwise (0-(-3)) the lower the flame. Besides that it is just the heat setting which goes from low to high. Any ideas?

Interesting, sort of like the Mt Vernon AE flame height adjustment but done thru potentioneters verses software.

I'd try using a lower flame setting to see if that helps as it's probably too much fuel and not enough air.

Do you think an outside air kit would help? Or does humidity mess with it? Adjusting the trim back below zero did not help. I swear the ash tray or something is vibrating. The noise comes from back behind he ash try.

Is your ash drawer closed all the way? I had to fiddle with the adjustments on mine as it would pop open slightly.

I’ll check that over. I always slam it shut and make sure it is closed but maybe it never fully closes like I think it does
