I believe that's the first snow picture. It looks very nice. I guess here we are going to break a record and go up 25 feels like 30C and sun
No wait I think there was an early snow storm in BC
My first fire, west central Saskatchewan. New stove and chimney… smoke detectors work, wife wasn’t too pleased to wake up to the alarms at 5:30. No snow or frost to date. Flowers at this time of the year should all be dead from frost, forecast is for frost tonight.

Looks great there. I've seen some guys fire up their stoves outside first. I wish I had done that before they installed my pellet stove new.
A new stove should have a break in fire or two that takes the stove to at least 260º C in order to bake in the paint. This is best done on a milder day when it's ok to open the windows. If possible, put a fan exhausting the air out of the room in a nearby window.

It was a perfect day to break in the new stove, 10C with 25km winds.
That was the plan except two big guys, 45 years younger offered to help me move the stove from the garage to the house. One time offer so I took it.

We've started getting snow in the mountains above 4,000 ft. Storms are all around us down near sea level, but we just have gotten an occasional sprinkle.
Winter, winter, go away and come back again another day.

I knew that but early snow usually melts turning to a fluid called water, that's what I was getting at. 👍 I've never seen it this dry in our 22 years here.
It's definitely been abnormally dry.
I'm just not ready for the accompanying cold that usually settles in with snow. I would rather have it cold and snow though. I very much dislike mid 30s weather with heavy wet snow.

We had a good slow rain today. It should have soaked in to the ground nicely. I suppose it probably wasn’t a big fall as far as inches of water, at least not compared to places like Jersey. They got hammered!
I looked at the lake’s water level today while going across a bridge. It shows only a foot low. I don’t think they’ve started dropping the level at the dam for winter yet.
We pulled boats yesterday. It’s a bit early for us, but one of the boats was having some sort of electrical issue and got towed to the launch. He was fighting ignition issues all year, and just had a bilge pump short or something and drain his battery. He figured it’s better to pull it while dry (and floating) than pull it once the rain arrived/weather changes. I couldn’t blame him. I yanked mine too. I probably wouldn’t be using it anymore with it getting cold now.
