2nd row of brick?

This is the firebox on my new (used) stove. At night on those cold nights when I want to load it full to have an all night burn going the wood (in red) will be higher than the firebrick. . I’m wondering…would you recommend a second row of brick (drawn in blue)? Or leave it? I tend to think too much fire brick will hinder its heat out put. Also the top pieces will burn down not exposing the bare steel to heat for long. Would love your input
