I have read that burning 2x4's is ok in my fireplace, but they tend to spark a lot and send sparks up the flue/chimney. Is that something I should be concerned about? I just had the chimney swept. Just don't want the sparks to cause a chimney fire, or is this a non issue? Thanks again.

I burn a lot of them...... I use more split into kindling for starting the fire. Never had a issue. Its just pine.

Probably doug fir. It tends to pop a lot. Shouldn't start a fire if there's nothing to burn. Keep a clean chimney.
