Hello All,

I wanted to toss a picture of a RSF Focus 3600 being installed and to get your thoughts.

All the required specs were met for stand off dimensions, the OAK, the spark guard, radiation shield, etc. My only concern would be the possible issue with the fire stop foam being used to air seal the backside of the chase and the above firestop.

Let me know your thoughts. None of the foam is in contact with any of the fireplace/chimney, or within 2 inch required spacing. I just want peace of mind before it gets closed up.

Thanks!

If any foam is outside the clearance distance for combustibles, it is fine for fire-issues.

Some fire stop foam is just there to close a hole to prevent smoke from getting through. Some is actually flammable.

The point is that if it's outside of the clearance, you could put paper there and it should be safe.

If it were me, I'd have put intumescent sealant rather than foam, but if this foam is okay by code, it should be fine.

I am puzzled by the durock that far up.
Is that required because the space going to be hot? Strange then that studs in the front are fine.

Then again, (my) advice on the internet is worth about as much as you paid for it...

Is the insulated duct on the left side the outside air supply? Does it terminate at least 5 ft. below the chimney cap?

The insulated duct jumps from a 4" to a 6" once past the fireblocking. From there it turns and runs out the gable end of the house. It is probably around 20 foot away and 16 foot below the chimney cap.
