You got to be kidding me. They want $340 a ton for American Wood Pellets and $295 for Vermont Pellets. I am in the Northern Mass Southern New Hampshire region. Anyone have good leads on pricing & quality?

Tons (literally) of pellets available. HD, Lowes, Tractor Supply, they all have plenty in this area. 340 for AWP is nuts. Go get Presto Logs at HD for $239.00 they are burning better for me this year than Green Team and they're $100 less a ton.

I have pellets in stock for mid winter, right now till I cut into my stash I've been burning AWF ( American Wood Fiber) white pines Super Premiums from HD @ $269 a ton. Very good pellets though, very low ash and hot.. I guess you must be late on the scene, ya pellets are up in price this year.

Funny I havent seen any pellets at any of the big box stores....Tractor supply has some, and all the smaller places are out and dont know when they are getting any shipments. Send me to the HD with the presto logs and Ill buy some.

You could waste even more money on df pellets. I think the local owner supply place is asking $365/ton. At that price oil, I'd be saving money buying oil.

The new Tractor Supply in Ipswich has several brands at $5.59 bag or $270 ton

I just installed it last week. Shame on me.

You would have felt even worse had your install not happened for whatever reason and you had $800 worth of pellets in your driveway. Lots of pellets around me call some places hopefully you can find some. Anything north of $300 you really need to consider just walking over to the wall thermostat and turning it on.

Haven't used a thermostat since we bought the house. Have 11 cord of wood for the stove but we have a newborn & the Mrs. needed something easier for when she 1st gets home. I call it the $3,200 thermostat.

I also highly recommend the Pres To Logs. In fact if anyone can tell me where in the Southeastern MA/ RI area they have them in stock I would greatly appreciate it.

TSC stores here in upstate NY have 3-4 brands to choose from. Pure Fire 100% soft, North American Pellet hard/soft mix, Green Supreme hard/soft mix and one other. $259 a ton, doesn't matter the brand.
HD and Lowes up here are bone dry this past week.
My local source has a few tons Lignetics in stock and can get me whatever I need (according to him). Was $259/ton delivered in August, now $279/ton delivered. Still not bad.

That's not a bad price for the Vermonts, I prefer to pay the premium for the low ash content, makes a big difference in the cleaning frequency

Tractor supply in Leicester had about 100 tons when I was there last week, I saw plenty at a few home dots in southern MA today as well...

Both Lowes and Home Depot in Nashua had them a few days ago, $240 I think. Lowes has Green Supreme and HD Fireside. Our son works at HD, I can ask him tonight if they still have them....

Doh I buckled and got the Vermont. At the rate I'm burning now with my wood stove, 1 bag lasted me from Sunday till Thursday. I may only need 1 ton. Next spring I'll do some shopping.

I think I'd be making a trip to the local elevator and getting some old crop shelled 15%RM corn and burning that. Corn produces way more BTU's per pound than the best wood pellets can and at around $3.25 per bushel is a good price too. Any 'multifuel' appliance with an agitator/stirrer can burn shelled field corn. Your only concern is your vent. Corn produces nitric acid which is corrosive to stainless liners so it's advantageous to run a pellet/corn mix and stay on top of cleaning your venting....

If I had know that field corn was going to drop in price (from almost 7 bucks a bushel to $3.25) I would have never prebought 5 tons of pellets. Iwould have bought 3 ton and 500 bushel of shelled corn.
